up. These have to be overcome if a person intends to have a successful and fulfilling
life. One of my greatest temptations was that old pen-ball machine. At that
time, for, for every point you scored, the owner would pay-off in cash. I would
scrape-up every penny I could, and off, on my old faithful bike I would head to
the Brown Door Bar on R/R Avenue in Hammond. Boy, I just couldn't wait to hear
those bells go off and those lights flashing. I really got hooked bad! But, one
morning I was made to realize the problem I had. I had got up early on Sat.
morning and headed to the Bar. I got there early and had to wait a while then
finally the owner arrived. He looked at me, shook his head, then said,
"Boy, you sure have it bad"! I then began to realize "It"
was a chain around my neck that was being held by that old machine. That day I
walked away from that old machine, never looking back
