#336 Swamp Knees

Everything has got to breath, but nothing has a more unique way of breathing than the Louisiana Cyprus trees. Deep in the marshland, the cyprus tree adjust to the rainfall, by extending its roots upward above the water level. Sometimes the root and knee structure is called the cajun sidewalk. A cajun can walk through a Louisiana Swamp and never get his ankles wet, by using those cyprus roots and knees that are woven underneath the marsh surface. THESE interwoven network are a lifeline for the massive wildlife that exist in the swamp. And, o how magnificent those strange knees look as they peek above the massive swamp grass and lily pads on those foggy mornings. One can truly visualize how life must have been when the giant Dinosaurs were roaming this same swamp many years ago.
