#352 The Strip

Naturally all young boy has to have "Wheels". Ours certainty would not have been accepted at a fancy road-show, but to us it was the coolest wheels on earth. It was made of the finest material (Apple Box, 2x4's, mower wheels, a rope, and many nails). The motor was your best friend. Our drag-strip was the pasture, which could get pretty slick at times, right after a bunch of these old cows would walk through. They didn't mind at all what they left behind! We would line our wheels up side by side, someone would hollow "go", and the race would begin. Crossing that finish-line first was equal (in our minds) to winning an Olympic Gold Metal. Even in my later years I can still remember the Joy.
