#362 Hammond Grammar

I don't know if all children remember their first day of school, but I sure remember mine! My finger nail claw marks are still on our front door. I was scared slap to death to leave our snug country house and ride that giant yellow bus and meet all those strange people in that big building that even had two stories. What if I fell out a top story window? Was I going to find the right bus to take me home? Many things was going through my mind that day. Well, all things are not usually as bad as they first seem. After a while I glanced around and saw other faces as scared as mine and I also saw some familiar smiling faces of some friends of mine. After I got the hang of things, I could climb the stairs, find my room, know my bus, and romp on the playground just like I owned the place. I almost, I day almost began to like school.
